Abstract

A projector automatic focusing method and focusing system comprises steps of (1) projecting an image onto a screen through a projection lens; (2) making a first signal of the image pass through a first focusing lens and a semi- trasmissive/semi-reflection lens to reach an image sensing unit; (3) making a second signal of the image pass through a second focusing lens and then be reflected by a reflection mirror and the semi- trasmissive /semi-reflection lens to reach the image sensing unit, in which a constant separation distance exists between the reflection mirror and the semi- trasmissive /semi-reflection lens; (4) rotating the reflection mirror with a conversion included angle to allow the first and the second signals to completely overlap; (5) calculating a projection distance which is equal to cotangent of double angle of the conversion included angle multiplying the constant separation distance according to the conversion included angle and the constant separation distance; and (6) adjusting the focus of the projection lens to match the projection distance.
