Abstract

Disclosed is an internal combustion engine (100) comprising: (a) a combustion chamber having an inlet valve (23) and an exhaust valve(24); (b) at least two ignition means (40,42); and (c) a drive means for driving the valves wherein each ignition means (40,42) is located distal from the valve drive means such as a timing chain. Such an engine (100), which advantageously has offset inlet and exhaust valves, has improved fuel economy over engines having a single ignition means or spark plug.
