Abstract

The liquid crystal composition of the present invention comprises (A) a fluorine-containing compound represented by formula (I), and (B) a bicyclohexyl compound represented by formula (Ⅱ). The liquid crystal composition has lower Δn and wider range of liquid crystal temperature which can be preferably used for reflective display. In formula (I), R1 denotes an alkyl or alkenyl group or the like; rings A1 and A2 denote 1, 4-phenylene or 1, 4-cyclohexyl or the like. Z1 denotes single bond, -COO-, -OCO-, -CF2O-, or -OCF2- or the like; B denotes a single bond or an alkylene group; Q denotes an 1~8 carbon saturated or unsaturated alkyl group substituted with a fluorine atom; n is a number of 1~3. In formula (Ⅱ), R2 denotes an 1~8 carbon linear alkyl group; R3 denotes la 1~6 carbon linear alkyl group; m is a number of 1~3.
