Abstract

The invention provides an active matrix liquid crystal display device and its control method. The leak current is reduced, the power consumption is reduced, and the image quality is promoted. The active matrix liquid crystal display device includes a pixel array, a plurality of gate lines and source lines. The pixel array is arranged in matrix form and a plurality of pixel parts having a liquid crystal element. The gate lines are individually controlled and arranged in a plurality of rows of the pixel array. The source lines are arranged in a plurality of columns of the pixel array, and provide a positive/negative polar signal corresponding to positively/negatively writing. The pixel part selectively connects the pixel electrode and the source line, and has a plurality of transistors connected in series. Each gate is connected to the gate lines. For the 1st gate line, a voltage nearby the minimum leak voltage for pixel electric charge is provided when the voltage of the pixel electrode is hold in the positive polar state. For the 2nd gate line, a voltage nearby the minimum leak voltage for pixel electric charge is provided when the voltage of the pixel electrode is hold in the negative polar state. In one case, the pixel part has a capacitor kicking back the 1st gate signal transmitted to the pixel electrode.
