Abstract

This invention provides a full-frequency modulated laser range finding device and a method thereof. A quartz oscillator is used to send out a modulation signal and a sampling signal. Frequencies of the modulation signal and the sampling signal are respectively controlled though two frequency dividers or two frequency multipliers. The modulation signal and the optical signal are coupled and transmitted to an object. The object reflects the coupled signal to be received by an optical detector. In an A/D converter, a sampling frequency is used as a standard to perform sampling on the received signal. The sampling result is transmitted to a microprocessor which performs a computation to obtain the distance to the object. Because the inventive device includes less number of components, and the modulation frequency f0 and the sampling frequency fsp are not restricted by the relationship of f0=(n+1/4)fsp, the selection of modulation frequency is more extensive. In addition, because frequencies are generated by the frequency dividers or the frequency multipliers, the system structure is simple and accurate.
