Abstract

The present invention relates to method of fabricating a mold with multilayer diamond like carbon overcoat which includes a substrate and a adhesive layer, a densified layer, a first diamond like carbon layer including nitrogen, a second diamond like carbon layer including nitrogen and oxygen, and a third diamond like carbon layer including oxygen formed thereon in order from bottom to top. Each of the film is deposited by radio frequency sputtering and has higher quality and better adhesion. The mold with multilayer diamond like carbon overcoat with the method gives better mechanical properties with higher hardness and wear resistance and optimized performances on corrosion resistance, adhesion, friction and life.
