Abstract

A housing component with an illuminated switch, having no malfunction caused by an input failure. The housing component has a layered body where a housing member (1), a decorative layer (2), and a light transmissive electrode layer (3) are layered over each other. The housing member (1) is made from a light transmissive material and forming a housing. The decorative layer (2) has a light transmissive pattern (2a) and a light shielding pattern (2b) that are formed on a flat surface. The light transmissive electrode layer (3) has an input detecting electrode made from a mesh electrically conductive thin film and, in the light transmissive electrode layer (3), a part or the whole of the electrode is placed superposed on the light transmissive pattern (2a) of the decorative layer (2). A light source (4) is placed on the rear side of the layered body, and light from the light source (4) is applied to the layered body to display the position of the input detecting electrode on the surface of the housing component (1) by the light transmissive pattern (2a).
