Abstract

Disclosed herein is a design and manufacturing method of a regular triangle microlens array. The method utilizes the fact that a regular triangle circular lens is actually a sphere arc body with one circular plane, and uses the three edges of a inscribed regular triangle in the circular plane as cutting lines, a subsphere arc body is cut off along the direction perpendicular to the cutting lines, then applies mathematics formulas to calculate the volume of the regular triangle circular lens to obtain edge lengths and heights of the regular triangle prism. To fabricate a regular triangle microlens array, a densely distributed regular triangle prism array undergoes a basic etching process along with materials of high molecule or photoresist, then a thermal reflow process is applied to form a sphere arc surface at the end of the regular triangle prism. Approximate approaches are used to calculate volume of the removed subsphere arc body in order to compare with a correct value and analyze the error of volume accordingly.
