Abstract

The present invention provides an H-type microstrip planar antenna layout operated in 5.8 GHz band of RFID system. The design is to embed a symmetrical meander open-loop slot in an edge of one side of a glass fiber board to form a H-type microstrip radiating patch resembling the English letter 'H' and a feed signal structure of a closed-ground coplanar waveguide. Experimental result shows that the antenna layout can excite an operating mode having a center frequency at 5.81 GHz, an impedance bandwidth for -10 dB of the operating mode reaches 1.74 GHz and covers the 5.8 GHz band of the RFID system. As the antenna design is in the form of low-profile plane and only requires single conductive plane and small grounding plane area of 13x11 mm<SP>2</SP>, the benefits having low cost and easy production can be secured.
