Abstract

A positive resist composition of the present invention includes a resin component (A) which displays changed alkali solubility under the action of acid; and an acid generator component (B) which generates acid on exposure, wherein the resin component (A) is a mixture of a copolymer (A1) including a structural unit (a1) derived from an acrylate containing a cyclic acid dissociable dissolution inhibiting group and a copolymer (A1') including a structural unit (a1') derived from an acrylate containing a branched-chain acid dissociable dissolution inhibiting group. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a positive resist composition and a method for forming a resist pattern which are capable of forming a resist pattern excellent in resolution.
