Abstract

A liquid crystal display (LCD) and method of enhancing frame contrast ratio thereof are provided. The LCD includes an LCD panel, a backlight module, a controller, a first inverter and a second inverter. The controller receives an image signal and outputs a display signal. The controller obtains a frame with several blocks according to the image signal. The controller determines the brightness of the blocks and outputs a first modulation signal and a second modulation signal. The LCD panel electrically connected to the controller receives the display signal and displays the frame. The backlight module having several lamps is for providing light to the LCD panel. Each lamp has a first end and a second end. The first ends and the second ends correspond to the blocks. The first inverter and the second inverter electrically connected to the controller are electrically connected to the first ends and the second ends, respectively. The first inverter and the second inverter respectively receive the first modulation signal and the second modulation signal and respectively modulate the first ends and the second ends, enabling the luminance of the first end or the second end corresponding to each block corresponds to the brightness of the block. Therefore, the contrast ratio of the frame is enhanced.
