Abstract

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a rolling device wherein a high-quality member having a plurality of quenched rolling contact surfaces for rolling elements can be produced with high productivity. Specifically disclosed is a method for manufacturing a rolling device comprising a member (a track rail (1) or the like) having a plurality of quenched rolling contact surfaces for rolling elements (a rolling contact surface (1a) for rolling elements or the like). This method is characterized in that the production process of the member comprises a step for forming a high-carbon steel material (the track rail (1) or the like) into a desired shape by plastic working, a step for quenching only the minimum portion of the high-carbon steel material required for the rolling contact surface for rolling elements after plastic working, and a step for subjecting the high carbon steel material after quenching to post-working without tempering it. For example, the high-carbon steel material has a chemical composition consisting of, in weight percent, 0.35-0.7% of C, 0.35% or less of Si, 1.1-1.7% of Mn, 0.03% or less of P, 0.03% or less of S, 0.3% or less of Ni, 0.5% or less of Cr, 0.002% or less of O2, and the balance of Fe.
