Abstract

The invention relates to modified copper sulfides which have a composition of the general formula (1) (CuxMey)2Sz.(Mg2Si)v (1) where Me is Co and/or Bi, and the indices x, y, z and v correspond to one of the following values: x= from 0.95 to 1.00, y= from 0 to 0.05, where x+y is a sum of from 0.98 to 1.02, z= from 0.95 to 1.05, v= from 0 to 0.01, and to a semiconductor material comprising these modified copper sulfides, and to the use of such a semiconductor material in thermoelectric modules and photovoltaic cells or modules.
