Abstract

A potential therapeutic apparatus capable of automatically adjusting the height of a head electrode according to the height of the head of a subject to be treated to constantly provide the best therapeutic effect. The potential therapeutic apparatus (1) comprises a head electrode (5) attached to a foldable chair (7) so as to be able to rise/fall and incline backward, an elevating device (12) for elevating/lowering the head electrode (5), and an optical sensor (18) for detecting the height position of the subject to be treated P, wherein the drive unit (12A) of the elevating device (12) is controlled for its operation based on a detection signal by the optical sensor (18). A high voltage-use cable (15) and a low voltage-use cable (16) are disposed away from each other so as to hold the elevating device (12) for the head electrode (5). A transparent insulating member (27) provided between the optical sensor (18) and the head of the subject to be treated P is formed into a step-difference sectional shape and is quite long at portion thereof overlapping an support arm (9).
