Abstract

A female contact(1) comprises of a mating portion(2) formed in box-shapes, a wire crimp portion(4), and a contact spring(18). This contact(1) is formed through bending a metal sheet, and edges of the metal sheet are seamed on the mating portion(2). In general, it is difficult to place the seam in a side of the mating portion(2) where the contact spring(18) is located. So, the seam is formed on a side of the mating portion(2) that is in parallel with a direction of movement of the contact spring(18). With this design, the seam of the mating portion(2) rarely opens while mating with a male terminal. It is preferable that the seam is formed as 'dove-tail'.
