Abstract
So far, the provision of antibacterial and antifungal activities for a fiber structure has been prosperously engaged, and the problem of lowering the antibacterial and antifungal activities and hand feeling by washing has been considered too. However, it is still unable to elevate the demanded property and provide a sufficiently satisfied property. In view of the current situation, the present invention purposes to provide a method of giving antibacterial and antifungal activities to the fiber structure without deteriorating demanded properties such as hand feeling, moisture absorption, water absorption and the like of a variety of fiber structures. The method of giving antibacterial and antifungal activities to fiber structure is characterized in that silver compound-containing acrylonitrile-based fiber is subjected to a heat treatment at a pH in the range of 1 to 6, so that it contains 5 to 15% by weight of the resulting silver-supporting acrylonitrile-based fiber as the constitutional fiber of the fiber structure.
