Abstract

This invention provides a liquid crystal orientation agent which can inhibit the decrease of the charge storage and voltage holding ratio and render high quality of liquid crystal display element in the form of horizontal electric field without imprint and afterimage. The liquid crystal orientation agent comprises polyimide polymers and polyamic acid polymers consisted of diamines and tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, in which more than 50 mol% total diamines are p-phenyldiamines and more than 30 mol% total tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride are cyclobutanetetracarboxylic acids.
