Abstract

The present invention provides an apparatus for nitrifying inner and outer walls of metal tubes, comprising a vacuum furnace, a nitrifying plasma power, and an auxiliary anode apparatus. By the use of the auxiliary anode apparatus which fits in various shapes of metal tube work-pieces to enhance the nitrifying process, any surface on the metal tube work-pieces may be -nitrified so as to increase micro-hardness, abrasion hardness, fatigue resistance and durability of the metal tube work-pieces. In addition, because the apparatus of the present invention is simple and only needs relatively short nitrifying time, the energy requirement is low and non-iron metal material not suitable for conventional nitrifying process can also be applied thereby.
