Abstract

This invention relates to a field emission device and a field emission display with the same. The field emission device includes a number of electron emitters forming on surfaces of a number of cathodes supported by a substrate. The surfaces of the cathodes are convex curved surfaces, which make the electron emitters distribute in a dispersed form. As a result, a distance of the tips of adjacent electron emitters is increased and electric field shield between adjacent electron emitters is decreased. Therefore, a needed electric field obtaining a same current equal to prior art is decreased, and a drive cost is reduced. The invention also provides a field emission display with the field emission device.
