This invention provides a single crystal metallic silicide-nanowire, which comprises a compound of the formula (I): MSi2, (I) wherein, the M is at least one of metal element selected from the group consisting of Ta, W, Mo, Fe, Co, Ni, and Pt. The compound has a single structure and appears a shape of nanowire. This invention also provides a method for producing a single crystal metallic silicide-nanowire.
