Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for constructing a vertical shaft in ground. The object of the present invention is to provide a method for constructing a vertical shaft, which enables the vertical shaft to be safely constructed even at the construction of the vertical shaft in water bottom ground such as sea bottom ground, and shortens a construction period and reduces construction costs. The solution of the present invention is that the method comprises: an installation process for installing a caisson on the sea bottom ground in which the vertical shaft is to be constructed; a level-drift constructing process for carrying out excavation in the ground and constructing an almost horizontal level drift which passes directly below the caisson installed; a pilot-tunnel excavating process for carrying out excavation toward the caisson from within the constructed level drift though the use of a pilot-tunnel excavator by a pipe jacking method and constructing a pilot tunnel leading to the caisson; and a widening excavation process for carrying out downward excavation with widening so as to form the cross section of the vertical shaft from the upper part of the pilot tunnel.
