Abstract
Disclosed is a novel alignment film used for the alignment of a liquid crystalline compound, comprising a polymer having at least one structural unit represented by any one of the formulae (I) to (III) wherein R1 and R2 each represent hydrogen atom, methyl group and the like, P1, P21 and P31 represent -NR- (R is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group) and the like, L1, L21, L22, L31 and L32 each represent a specific di-valent linking group, X1, X2 and X3 represent a hydrogen bonding group, n1, n2 and n3 represent an integer of 3 or less. Also disclosed is a phase difference plate comprising an alignment film containing a polymer which has a structural unit having a formula weight of 110 or more and a hydrogen bonding group, and an optical anisotropic layer containing a rod-like liquid crystalline compound whose alignment is controlled by the alignment film.
