Abstract

The socket for electronic component of the present invention uses a rotating axle to install a switching element on the socket's main unit, where the switching element is allowed to rotate freely and, by means of a coil spring, can accumulate elastic force towards its opening direction. A cam axle, whose profile is approximately 'D' shape, is installed and can rotate freely on the socket's main unit. An on/off control rod is also installed on the socket's main unit to control the rotation of the cam axle. By means of the rotation of the on/off control rod, the flat surface of the approximate D-shaped cam axle gets in contact with the pressed surface of the switching element's main unit. Then, by means of the accumulated elastic force of the coil spring, the switching element can be opened. On the other hand, by pressing the circumference surface of the approximate D-shaped cam axle against the pressed surface of switching element's main unit, the accumulated elastic force of the coil spring can be eliminated and the switching element can be closed.
