The method provides contact of the sulfide-containing gas flow with the composition for the removal of a contaminant, the mixture for the removal of a diluted contaminant containing an inorganic ion and an oxidation catalyst; involves returning at least a portion of the composition for the removal of pollutants into the contact area of at least a portion of the mixture for reconstitution with an oxygen containing gas. A combination is also provided for the removal of pollutants from the product of a reaction between the organic compounds formed by the displacement of hydrogen with an aldehyde and an ammonia with alkyl radicals.
