Abstract

DC60 (January 16, 2013) This invention involves a two-tiered planter. The inner pot has several drainage holes to allow water to flow into the space between the two pots. The outer pot holds the water and has an overflow drainage hole to prevent excessive waterlogging, which can easily cause root rot. Its base is wider than the inner pot's rim, making it stable and less likely to tip over. There are two types of two-tiered planters: Type 1, with an integrated overflow channel attached to the base of the outer pot to prevent spills, suitable for indoor use; and Type 2, without an overflow channel, suitable for outdoor use where spills are possible, to reduce production costs compared to Type 1.

1. Two-layer pots that do not require frequent watering have the following characteristics: they have two layers, consisting of (1) an inner pot (2) with holes to allow water to drain down to the bottom of the outer pot (3) an outer pot used to retain water, the space between the pots allows the roots to breathe better (4) an overflow drainage hole to retain water at a suitable level and lower the center of gravity of the pot (5) no overflow channel.
