Abstract

DC60 is designed to provide a catalytic converter that prevents high-temperature exhaust gases from heating the secondary air intake pipe and helps inhibit the reduction of oxygen flow into the exhaust pipe. The catalytic converter 20 consists of exhaust pipe 15 connected to the engine, a gas remover 22 arranged in exhaust pipe 15, a secondary air intake pipe 23 connected to exhaust pipe 15 on the upstream side where the gas remover 22 is arranged, and a muffler 30 that supports the connection between the secondary air intake pipe 23 and exhaust pipe 15, and the end 15i of exhaust pipe 15, which is where the exhaust gases are released. The muffler 30 contains a flow inhibition component. (Inner wall component 35) is installed between the end 15i of exhaust pipe 15 and the exhaust gas flow suppression connection [Selected drawing] Figure 2, to provide an exhaust gas purification device that can prevent high-temperature exhaust gases from heating the secondary air intake pipe and help suppress the amount of oxygen flowing into the exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas purification device 20 will consist of exhaust pipe 15 connected to the engine, a gas remover 22 arranged in exhaust pipe 15, a secondary air intake pipe 23 connected to exhaust pipe 15 on the upstream side where the gas remover 22 is arranged, and a muffler 30 that supports the connection between the secondary air intake pipe 23 and exhaust pipe 15 and the end 15i of exhaust pipe 15, which is the part through which the exhaust gases are released. The muffler 30 will consist of a flow suppression component (inner wall component 35) installed between the end 15i of exhaust pipe 15 and the exhaust gas flow suppression connection. Claims (12)

1. Exhaust gas purification device (20, 200, 201, 202) specifically for motorcycles, consisting of the following components: exhaust pipe (15) which can be connected to the engine (4), catalytic converter (22) located in the exhaust pipe (15), and secondary air intake pipe (23) which is purified by a muffler (30) which supports the catalytic converter (22), section (23d) of the aforementioned secondary air intake pipe (23), and the end (15i) of the exhaust pipe terminal section (15a) of the aforementioned exhaust pipe (15) from which the exhaust gases are released. The muffler (30) is also constructed in such a way that the exhaust gases released from the exhaust pipe end (15i) of the exhaust pipe (15) are prevented from being injected directly into the secondary air feed (23), and the secondary air feed (23) is connected to the exhaust pipe (15) inside the muffler (30) on the upstream side of where the catalytic converter (22) is arranged. 2. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 1 is characterized in which the muffler (30) is constructed such that the exhaust gas flow is reversed at least once in such muffler (30) to reduce the total length of the muffler (30) in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. 3. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 1 or 2 is made to be of the following nature: the muffler (30) contains a flow-inhibiting assembly (35) which is placed between the end of the exhaust pipe terminal (15i) of the said exhaust pipe (15) and the said connection between the secondary air intake pipe (23) and the exhaust pipe (15) to inhibit the flow of exhaust gases. 4. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 1 or 2 is made special in that the muffler (30) contains a flow-inhibiting assembly which is between the end of the exhaust pipe end section (15i) of such exhaust pipe (15) and that section (23d) of the secondary air intake pipe (23) which is supported in the muffler to inhibit the flow of exhaust gases. 5. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 4 is characterized in which the exhaust pipe end (15a) of such exhaust pipe (15) acts as a flow suppressor for exhaust gases. 6. One of the exhaust gas purification devices under Requisitions 1 to 3 is made special in that at least one section of the outer wall (39) of the exhaust muffler (30) is constructed in two layers to contain an inner wall assembly and an outer wall assembly, in which a secondary air feed pipe (23) extends between such inner wall assembly and such outer wall assembly to be directed into such exhaust muffler (30), and in which the flow suppression assembly (35) contains such inner wall assembly. 7. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 6 is characterized as the muffler (30) being composed of a hollow cylinder (32) and a cover assembly (33) welded to the opening of the hollow cylinder (32), and that the cover assembly (33) is structured in two layers to contain an inner wall assembly and an outer wall assembly. 8. Any of the exhaust gas purification devices under claims 1 to 3, 6 and 7, which are made special in that the muffler (30) contains several expansion chambers (50, 51, 52) and where the flow suppression assembly (35) contains a divider for separating such expansion chambers (50, 51, 52) of the muffler (30). 9. The exhaust gas purification device under claim 1 or 2 is made special in which the secondary air intake section (23) which is supported in the muffler (30) is arranged in an area except for the vacant region (V) into which the exhaust gases released from the end (15i) of the exhaust pipe (15) are directly injected. 10. The exhaust gas purification device according to claim 8 is characterized as follows: the exhaust pipe (15) consists of a straight section (15k) from which the exhaust gases are released, the muffler (30) supports the end of the straight section (15k), and the secondary air intake pipe (23) is provided to clearly show the cross-section of the void (V) in the muffler (30) which extends in the direction of the overhang of the straight section (15k) from the end of the straight section (15k). 11. The exhaust gas purification device according to claim 9 is characterized in which a secondary air feed pipe (23) is arranged on one end of the exhaust pipe (15) in a direction opposite to the direction in which the exhaust gases are released from that exhaust pipe end. 12. A type of vehicle with a seat containing an exhaust gas purification device as specified in any of Claims 1 through 11.
