ผลิตอนุพันธุ์เซลลูโลสที่ละลายได้ในแอลคาไล โดยการให้เซลลูโลสทำกับแอมโมเนียเหลวที่มียูเรียละลายอยู่ในนั้น กำจัดเอา แอมโมเนียออก ผลที่ได้ทำให้เซลลูโลสมียูเรียกระจายอยู่ใน นั้น ไปทั่วถึงตลอดและการทำให้เซลลูโลส-ยูเรียที่ได้ร้อนเพื่อ ให้ เกิดปฏิกิริยาระหว่างยูเรียและเซลลูโลส และเกิดเป็น เซลลูโลส คาร์บาเมทจากสารละลายแอลคาไลน์ออกเป็นแบบแผ่นบางหรือเส้นใย ของ เซลลูโลสคาร์บาเมท
