Claims (23)

A self-sealing, folded or rolled sanitary pad for disposal, consisting of: (a) a central, elongated absorbent element with two ends, two longitudinal edges facing the underwear and one facing the body; (b) a backing layer that largely covers the underwear-facing side of the absorbent element; (c) one or two folds extending transversely along the longitudinal edges of the backing layer at one end; and (d) a primary adhesive pathway arranged on the backing layer to secure the folds to the backing layer when the pad is rolled or folded transversely, and these folds enclose the rolled or folded pad for disposal.

The method of self-sealing a sanitary pad for disposal consists of (a) a central, elongated absorbent element with two longitudinal edges, one facing the underwear and the other facing the body, and a support layer on the underwear-facing side, with at least one flap extending transversely beyond the length of the support layer. This support layer has a pressure-sensitive adhesive pathway 1 on it. (b) the sanitary pad is rolled or folded along its transverse axis. (c) the flap is wrapped around the rolled or folded portion of the sanitary pad. (d) the flap is secured to the support layer using a pressure-sensitive adhesive pathway 1, thus sealing the sanitary pad for disposal.

A self-sealing folded or rolled sanitary pad for disposal, consisting of (a) a centrally located elongated absorbent element with two longitudinal edges, one facing the underwear and the other facing the body; (b) a backing layer that largely covers the underwear-facing side of the absorbent element; (c) at least one folded flap extending transversely along the length of the backing layer at one end; and (d) a primary adhesive pathway arranged on the underwear-facing side of the backing layer to secure the folded flap to the backing layer when the pad is folded or rolled transversely, and the folded flap is wrapped around the rolled or folded pad for disposal.
