The hydrophobic portion is (a) directly attached to the amino group of the hydrophilic portion, (b) to the hydrophilic portion by an ether bond incorporating the oxygen atom of one of the oxyethylene groups or the oxyethylene terminal unit of one of the polyoxyethylene chains, or (c) to the hydrophilic portion by an ether bond to one of the glycoside units.
