These pleats and opposing side edges, transversely aligned with the upper absorbent core, create a longitudinal constriction on the sanitary pad due to its elastic attachment in a stretched state. In a normal state, the bottom of the upper core touches the top of the lower core; in a longitudinal bending state, causing the upper core to be vertically separated from the lower core.
