Manganese adjuncts used as catalysts in bleaching agents consist of manganese (II) cations attached to ligands, forming true complexes. These are insoluble salts or ionic binding compounds, which are adsorbed and protected within a matrix of water-soluble or water-dispersible substances selected from organic homopolymers or heteropolymers, nonionic organic compounds, 10 to 20 carbon long chain fatty acids, 10 to 20 carbon long chain fatty acid soaps, gassy sodium phosphate, and mixtures of these. This matrix contains between 5 and 50% by weight of the manganese adjunct.
