This polyethylene resin has a density of 0.915 to 0.955 g.cm-3, a melt flow rate of no more than 0.20 dg.min-1 measured at 190°C and a load of 2.16 kgf, and a melt flow rate of 17.0 to 70.0 dg.min-1 measured at 190°C and a load of 21.5 kgf. It has a zero shear viscosity (eta₀) of 200,000 to 2,000,000 Pa.s and a constant of... The characteristic time (towo) is 50 to 500 sec. and the ratio (towo/etao) is 1.0x10⁻⁴ to 4.0x10⁻⁴ Pa⁻¹. The zero shear viscosity (etao) is obtained by estimating the dynamic viscosity of the molten material (eta* unit: Pa.s) with equation [1]. The dynamic viscosity of the molten material (eta*) is obtained by measurement using a rheometer at 190 °C at a spacing of 1.5 mm between parallel plates at a deformation of 10 percent to 15 percent and in the frequency range (w) of 100 to 0.01 rad.s⁻¹ * = etao/1+(towo•w(n)) [1] (n is a parameter). The polyethylene resin is improved in both casting and molding. and long-term physical properties and suitable for both making pipes and pipe fittings, such polyethylene resin has a density of 0.915 to 0.955 g.cm-a, a melt flow rate of no more than 0.02- dg min-1 when measured at 190 °C and at a load of 2.16 kgf, a melt flow rate of 17.0 to 70.0 dg.min-1 when measured at 190 °C and at a load of 21.5 kgf, a zero shear viscosity of 2,000,000 Pa.s, a characteristic time constant of 50 to 500 sec., and a ratio of 1.0 x10 to 4.0x10-4 Pa-1. Such zero shear viscosity is obtained by estimating the dynamic viscosity of the melt in units of Pas. with the equation (1) measured viscosity of the melt. This was obtained by measurements using a rheometer at 190 °C, with a spacing between parallel plates of 1.5 mm, at deformations of 10 to 15 percent, and in the frequency range (w) of 100 to 0.01 rad.s-1 (chemical formula) (n is a parameter).
