The powered toothbrush consists of a hollow cylindrical handle with a cap attached to each end, a motor and battery housed within the handle, and a beveled outer surface at the front end of the handle with a switch mounted to control the motor. The bristle holder consists of an internal cavity with two parallel rows of holes for holding numerous conical sections. Each conical section contains a conical gear with bundles of bristles held in it. The drive shaft is connected to this transmission shaft, and a 45-degree notched coupling gear is driven at both ends of the driven shaft and connected to a set of 45-degree notched coupling gears driven by the transmission shaft. The driven 45-degree notched coupling consists of numerous 45-degree notched couplings arranged in two lines, each meshed to the conical section. The unique characteristic is that the motor drives the drive shaft, and the driven 45-degree notched coupling rotates through the drive gear, driven gear, and transmission shaft. This drives the driven 45-degree notched coupling, causing the conical section to rotate inward or outward, respectively, simultaneously. (Clause 1, page 2, figure 7)
