Abstract

A methodology for displaying replayable content on a monitor has been revealed, capable of replaying specific sections for viewing again using subroutines that can execute independently of a tape counter. A modified video tape recorder (VTR) system adapted for this display replay method consists of: a microcomputer (No. 1) controlling the system; a subroutine (No. 2) monitoring the status of a tape and providing processing condition information to the user; a display method (No. 3) showing the current status of the VTR in conjunction with user input via push buttons; a Y/C unit (No. 4) executing circuit-level program instructions of the VTR, such as video or audio signal processing; and a mechanical/logic unit (No. 5) executing user-defined mechanical instructions. The controls of a video tape recorder (VTR), such as tape insertion/ejection, loading, and unloading, include a remote control unit and a type of input device (number 6) which transmits the current status of the VTR, such as program switches (position switches), start/end sensing, and magnetic drum and winding signals, etc., to the microcomputer. It also sends received remote control signals. A type of keypad (number 7) is also used to send data to the microcomputer to execute the correct programmed input from the user and from selected special key presses.

Claims (2)

1. The method of displaying the replay on the screen in a video tape recorder (VTR), which consists of a microcomputer and subroutines capable of independent operation, comprises the following steps: Step one determines the initialization of all output points and the contents of a portion of RAM to the initialization state upon power-on. This is used to set the initialization, control interrupt signals, and simultaneously check the output point for an alternative location to search for a tape rewind image or tape rewind operation. Step two checks for the presence of input via the replay button and then processes the program accompanying the replay button. Step three checks the operation method, and if the existing operation involves a mechanical instruction, this step controls that mechanical instruction. Finally, step four provides an operation switch and checks for recognition and emergency conditions to stabilize the system. 2. A method of display repetition that satisfies Claim 1, which consists of two steps: a first sub-step that checks whether an available operation is the display operation; a second sub-step that sets the repetition symbol if the first sub-step represents the display operation and tests the alternative to determine if it is the rewind image search operation; a third sub-step that sets the rewind image search operation if the second sub-step represents an alternative rewind image search operation, or sets the stop operation if the second sub-step does not represent an alternative rewind image search operation; and a fourth sub-step which, if the exit point of the independent subprogram's process is in a logically high state during the execution of sub-steps 2 and 3, executes the counting instruction to set the stop operation and then sets the display operation.
