Abstract

A display method that allows for the re-display (re-rendering) of a series of pre-set images or a last image by the user, controlled by a single button press and operated by software, without the need for additional hardware. Therefore, this system is highly optimized in both function and quality. The system components include: a microcomputer for controlling the basic functions of the video tape recorder (VTR) system and the operation of the device; a display method for informing the user of the status of the VTR system under the microcomputer's control; and a mechanism for supporting the insertion/ejection of video tapes and the loading/unloading of tapes via control signals from the computer. A video and audio signal control unit is used to control video and audio signals, which are under the control of a microcomputer. A remote control receiver is used to receive control signals from various remote control systems, filter and amplify those signals, and then transmit them to the microcomputer. A sensing device is used to recognize the current command position of the mechanism and the start/end state of the tapes, in order to transfer the received data to the microcomputer. And a keyboard is used for inputting data using buttons that instruct the various programs of the video tape recorder to run. Input is also sent to the microcomputer via special forward and reverse keys on the keyboard, including a repeat reduction button.

Claims (10)

1. Methods for replaying a portion of a recording on magnetic tape, where the selected section to be replayed is determined as follows: a) based on time, by rewinding the tape a pre-set time interval prior to the desired section being replayed; or b) based on the number of signal intervals set by the winding machine, by rewinding the tape a pre-set number of signal intervals prior to the desired section being replayed. The number of signal intervals set by the winding machine is proportional to the number of rotations of the tape reel. 2. The method under Claim 1, in which the selection of the section to be repeated is based on the segments that the winding machine will consist of, involves the following steps: a) During the replay operation, the segment counter on the winding machine is reset to the beginning of the section of recording to be repeated; b) The number of segments counted on the winding machine is reset; c) When the desired section of recording is to be repeated, a tape rewind operation is performed, and the segment counter on the winding machine is counted down until the beginning of the desired section is reached; and d) The desired section of recording is repeated. 3. Method pursuant to claim 2, where the loop counter signal at the winding machine is reset and the loop counting signal at the winding machine occurs by activating the "Display" button on the keyboard or by means of a remote control. 4. The method of re-displaying the magnetic tape recording under Patent 3, where activating the "Display" button results in the setting of a symbol. 5. The method under one of the preceding claims in which the selection of a section to be repeated on a time basis shall consist of the following steps: a) resetting the timer to the beginning of the recording to be repeated in the next step; b) timing the program timer of the playback starting from the reset time onwards; c) when the desired recording section is to be repeated, performing a countdown of the timer during tape rewind operation until reaching the beginning of the desired section; and d) repeating the desired recording section. 6. A method under one of the preceding claims where input from a single button press results in tape rewind and replay of the desired section. 7. A method under any of the claims in clauses 2 through 6 whereby a microcomputer controls the loop counting at the winding machine and the resetting of the loop counter at the winding machine. 8. Under any preceding claim, magnetic tape, video tape and reel are reels of a video cassette recorder. 9. Equipment for the replay or recording and replay of magnetic tapes, which is modified to operate in accordance with the methods of any of the claims in Articles 1 through 8. 10. The device referred to in claim 9 shall be a video tape player or a recorder/player. (Clause 10, 2 pages, 4 figures)
