This invention relates to an accelerator technique, namely an induction accelerator m-betatrons. According to the main auth. No. 360008 is known a betatron electromagnet containing a winding and a ferromagnetic magnetic core, the pole tips of which contain radial ridges extending from the cylindrical central part tl 3. The control field formed by ridge poles opposite each other has a horizontal symmetry, t. e. field lines closed from one pole to another are symmetric about the median plane passing through the middle of the interpolar gap. The focusing properties of an azimuthally periodic control field with a horizontal plane of symmetry in the radial V | - and vertical l) directions are described by extrusion | n -H / 2f, where h is the average decay of the magnetic field; f is the depth of variation of the control field. The disadvantage of this electromagnet is an insignificant increase in the focusing properties of the azimuthal-peri- odic control of the field due to the small depth of variation. Increasing the depth of variation leads to the complexity of the design of the electromagnet. The object of the additional invention is to increase the focusing forces of the control magnetic field. The delivered chain is achieved by the fact that in the betatron electromagnet according to auth.St. No. 360008, the ridges of one pole are located above the gap between the ridges of the second pole at an equal distance from two adjacent ridges of this pole. With this arrangement of the poles relative to each other, the azimuthally periodic control field of the vertical symmetry plane is formed in the working gap, which has better focusing properties than the control field with a horizontal plane of symmetry. Fig, 1 shows the cross section of the poles; in fig. 2 - view in plan; Fig, 3 - the structure of the magnetic field in the working gap of the accelerator. The betatron electromagnet contains poles, each of which is made in the form of a central core 1, cylindrical for 1, and the ridges 2 emerging from it. The poles are covered by a magnetizing winding (not shown in Fig.). The poles are mounted so that the ridges 2 of one pole are located above the gap 3 between the ridges 2 of the other pole at an equal distance from these ridges. The poles are mounted so that they form a working gap 4 in which the acceleration chamber is located (not shown in Fig.). When you turn on the electromagnet in the network in the interpolar gap 4 magnetic flux occurs. The distribution of the magnetic field in azimuth is periodic. Since the magnetic lines of force 5 extending from each ridge of one pole are closed on two adjacent ridges of the other pole, the frequency of changing the field in azimuth is 2N where N is the number of ridges (see Fig. 3). As follows from FIG. 3, such a field has a vertical symmetry. The force lines 5 are symmetrical about the axes 6 of each ridge. The presence of vertical symmetry of the field causes periodic oscillations of the equilibrium orbit, both in the horizontal and in the vertical plane. Thus, an equilibrium orbit will have a complex spiral shape. The presence of periodic oscillations of the equilibrium orbit in the horizontal and vertical planes leads to the appearance of additional focusing forces. An increase in focusing forces leads to an increase in the number of accelerated particles per cycle and, consequently, to an increase in labor productivity associated with the use of a betatron having poles of the proposed design.
