Description

(54) METHOD FOR PROTECTING GRAPHITE FROM OXIDATION

The invention relates to the field of hardening of graphite products, and to their protection against oxidation. In the relay industry, in the manufacture of bases, glass is sintering with metal on graphite supports in conveyor furnaces with a protective atmosphere. When repeatedly passing through furnaces at 9801020 ° C, graphite burns out, the holes increase in size and the supports go out of order. Replacing graphite with another material is impossible due to its interaction with glass at temperatures above. Methods are known for hardening graphite, which include coating molybdenum nitride or titanium nitride with a plasma method. These coatings are resistant at high temperatures, but they are unacceptable in the processes associated with. for baking glass, as they interact with melted glass. A known method of protecting against the oxidation of carbon-graphite products is that the products are loaded into a heated autoclave, after which a vacuum of 500-600 mm Hg is created. and the product is kept for 20 minutes (Then it is impregnated with an aqueous solution without water chloride. Magnesium, increase the pressure and continue impregnation for 0.5-1 h at 100-150 C. The impregnated products are dried at 150-170 C. Dried products are again impregnate with 5–15% water solution of dibasic ammonium phosphate in the same way tl. In the known method of protecting graphite from oxidation, the damping effect is achieved by impregnating carbon-graphite products in 2 stages. processes involving the baking of glass with metals, since at high temperatures the treated surface is wetted with molten glass and it is not possible to get a glass junction with metal. The closest to the proposed method is to protect the graphite from oxidation, including impregnation of the product with liquid glass, drying at a temperature and heat treatment protective environment. Products are soaked with liquid glass at T 150 ° C. After impregnation, the product is removed from the autoclave, dried in air and in a thermostat
