756520A1_1-3.png "style =" width: 24pt; height: 26pt; "/>

The invention relates to gas-discharge light sources, in particular to spectral lamps, and can be used. Used in instruments for atomic ab- '$ sorption and atomic fluorescence analysis. </ p>

Spectral discharge lamps are known to contain a flask with an exit window filled with an inert gas, a hollow cathode of a glow discharge, an anode, and a modulator made in the form of a ring [ΐ]. </ p>

In this design, the modulator's own radiation can be minimized; however, a large concentration of atomic vapor of the modulator material cannot be obtained inside the ring, which leads to a small modulation depth of the resonant radiation and, consequently, to a small intensity of the variable component of the resonant radiation, respectively reduces the signal-to-noise ratio in the radiation of the lamp. </ p>

The closest to the technical essence of the invention is a spectral discharge lamp £ 2, containing a flask filled with an inert gas with an exit window, a hollow glow cathode placed in it, an anode and a cylinder modulator with a through central hole made of the same material as the hollow cathode and mounted on the same axis with it. </ p>

However, in this design it is not possible to get rid of the resonance lines due to the intense self-radiation of the modulator, which has the effect of a hollow cathode. </ p>

The purpose of the present invention is to increase the intensity of the radiation of resonant lines in a spectral lamp. </ p>

This goal is achieved by the fact that in a spectral lamp with a modulator in the form of a cylinder with a central hole, the specified cylinder is made with at least one cavity connected to the central hole and perpendicular to the specified axis, and the ratio of the cavity depth to its width should not be less than 0.5. In this case, the specified cavity can be formed either by a circular groove, or at least one radial hole. It is also advisable that the diameter of the central </ p>

who is the cylinder bore from the side </ p>

'the output window was no more than 0.9 of the diameter of the central hole on the anode side, but not [Leee of the internal diameter of the hollow cathode of a glow discharge. </ p>

In FIG. 1 shows the principle e </ sup> </ p>

The bore design of the lamp with a cylinder having a circular groove; in fig. 2 - lamp design with a cylinder having radial holes ·; FIG. 3 - section of a cylinder having a circular groove; in fig. 4 is a cross section of a cylinder having one radial bore; in fig. 5 - section of a cylinder with four radial holes. 15 </ p>

Spectral gas discharge lamps contain flask 1 with window 2 for output 1 </ sup> and radiation, transparent in the near ultraviolet region of the spectrum, filled with an inert gas (for example, 20 neon at a pressure of 500 Pa). The flask contains an effective thermal cathode 3, a through hollow cathode 4 of a glow discharge from a material whose spectrum needs to be obtained (for example, iron) fixed in ceramic bushings 5, anode 6, a modulator 7 in the form of a cylinder "with a through central opening" ; a ", made of the same material as the hollow cathode and having a cavity 8, connected to a central hole, made either in the form of a circular groove (Fig. 1, Fig. 3), or in the form of radial holes (Fig. 2, Fig. 5 and Fig. 4). _ </ p>

The modulator is fixed in ceramic washers 9. Electrodes are mounted on terminals 10 placed in ceramic tubes. </ p>

Between the thermal cathode 3, the cathode 4 of the glow discharge and the anode b, the arc and glow discharges are initiated. Moreover, the arc discharge penetrates the cathode of a glow discharge through its central opening, increasing, by reducing the electron temperature, the efficiency of exciting the spectrum of the metal from which the hollow ’cathode is made. The intense radiation of metal vapors, propagating along the axis of the lamp, passes through the central hole of the modulator 7. A pulsating glow discharge is initiated between the modulator 7 and the anode 6 ’. When the ratio of the depth of cavity 8 to its width is greater than 0.5, a hollow cathode effect occurs in it, accompanied by intense spraying of the inner surface of the modulator 7 and the formation of a high concentration pulsating atomic vapor on its axis. In this case, its own Ela. The modulator reading is localized to ¢ 0 bones and is not output through window 2. </ p>

For the same purpose, the diameter of the central bore of the cylinder from the exit window should be no more than 0.9 of the diameter of the central bore- $ 5 </ p>

from the side of the anode, but not less than the internal diameter of the hollow cathode of a glow discharge. This high-intensity radiation from the cathode 4 of a glow discharge, interacting with the atomic vapor of the modulator, is selectively absorbed at resonant frequencies with a large modulation depth, which leads to the appearance of a large amplitude component in the radiation of a lamp at frequencies corresponding to the resonant metal lines. This component is then separated from the constant component by the registration system corresponding to non-resonant radiation, tuned to the frequency of the atomic pair pulsations. </ P>

This invention at the expense of increasing- ~ </ p>

’of the optical density of the absorbing cloud of atoms on the axis of the lamp makes it possible to obtain a modulation depth of resonant radiation of 80-90%, whereas in the prototype lamp it is equal to 4050%. </ p>

This is equivalent to an increase in the variable component of the resonant radiation by 2 times compared with the prototype. Accordingly, the ratio of the line intensity to the background intensity in the radiation of the lamp increases and its efficiency increases. The inventive lamp design options are equivalent in function and in result achieved and have the same characteristics. The use of one or another variant is due to the technology of making lamps for each specific element. </ P>
