Устройство содержит цилиндрическую втулку 1, имеющую на внешней и внутренней поверхност х чередующиес  выемки 2,3, образующие кольцевые гофры. Втулка i свободао надета йа оправку 4. Одна из деталей 1 или 4 крепитьс  неподвижно к раме транспортного средства (на фигурах не показано), друга  воспринимает внешнее усилие при аварийных соударени х . Втулка 1 дл  лучшей центровки может иМеггь ребра жесткости 5, а дл  упрощени  изготовлени  и монтажа может быть собрана из отдельных корютких втулок (фиг. 2).
