Description

The method of extracting copper from oxidized or mixed ores or tailings of the beneficiation plants

Filed April 28, 1940 in Narkomtsvetmet for L 32314 (302234) Published March 31, 1944

д.) руд производитс  двум  способами; пирометаллургическим и гидрометаллургическим .In modern practice, the processing of oxidized and mixed {containing copper in the form of oxides, sulphides, carbonates, etc.) ores is carried out in two ways; pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical.

In the first case, copper-rich, oxidized or mixed ores or concentrates resulting from flotation heating, are melted in a shaft or reflective furnace to matte or blister copper.

д.In hydrometallurgical methods, sulfuric acid, acidic solutions of iron oxide sulfate, ammonia solutions, etc. are used as solvents to extract meds from oxidized or mixed ores. Copper is precipitated from solutions by iron, electrolysis, heating solutions, etc.

The issues of flotation enrichment of oxidized and mixed ores have long attracted the attention of researchers, but until very recently the process did not give satisfactory results.

With direct flotation enrichment of oxidized; and mixed ores, copper recovery ranges from 60-70% versus 85-95% with the enrichment of sulphide ores.

Such huge copper losses due to the non-digestion of the direct flotation method made it necessary to turn to more complex combined processes. As such a combined process, it was proposed to leach copper with sulfuric acid with precipitation of dissolved copper with sponge iron or iron scrap, followed by flotation. However, the process with the use of sponge iron, due to difficulties with its production, has not been distributed in industry, and the use of iron scrap makes it necessary to install expensive and cumbersome equipment, which greatly complicates and complicates the process.

Distinctive feature

The proposed method is that leaching is carried out by agitating treatment to transfer copper into solution in the form
