Description

When the adrenal gland is extracted with a water-alcohol solution of sulfuric, hydrochloric, or oxalic acid, adrenaline is extracted - a drug that can constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure.

The author of the present invention, a base that is similar to the active organ preparation, can be obtained by extracting the adrenal glands with a water-alcohol solution of sulfur dioxide.

Unlike commonly used sulphurous acids, acid extracts small amounts of adrenaline from the adrenal glands, while the main part of the extract is a new, hitherto unknown substance similar to adrenaline with respect to biological properties, but it is completely different in physical and chemical properties. . This substance is a white powder, easily soluble in mineral acids, including sulfurous, precipitated from acidic solutions with ammonia and alkalis, insoluble in dilute alkalis; it does not give a color reaction with chlorine HbjMi with iron characteristic of adrenaline, does not melt, contains 4.3% nitrogen (adrenaline contains 7.65% nitrogen), when burned, and is preliminarily carbonized and leaves about 45.% ash containing phosphoric acid and calcium. By maintaining solutions of this substance in hydrochloric and oxalic acids, it is possible to obtain a reaction with ferric chloride, typical of adrenaline, in a few days.

This substance has an energetic vasoconstrictor effect (on the rabbit's ear) and increases blood pressure and blood sugar in animals. The smooth muscles (guts and uterus of the rabbit) act similarly to adrenaline.

Example. 2 kg of crushed adrenal glands of cattle are poured with 6 liters of 80% alcohol, saturated with sulfur dioxide, and left to stand for 4-5 days at room temperature. The liquid separated from the cake is evaporated at a reduced pressure and temperature of 45 to 0.1-0.15 of the original volume, the residue is again saturated with sulfur dioxide, extracted with ether, and the clear aqueous filtrate is treated with excess ammonia. When staying for a day, about 3 g of a white crystalline powder is released, which has the properties described above.

Depending on the quality of the taken adrenal glands, with a further stage of the SRI of the solution, it is possible to obtain a small amount of adrenaline 11.

The method of obtaining organic preparations by extracting naht, renal animals, characterized in that the adrenal glands are extracted with a water-alcohol solution of sulfur dioxide, after which the resulting extract is processed further by conventional methods.
