Description
Waste FROM the production of alcohol from sulphite-cellulose liquor after fermentation of hexose sugars in them, the so-called sulphite bard has been proposed to be used as the main raw material for the manufacture of preparations for binding rod and molding lands with very high properties. The proposed preparations from bards have a greater initial strength than preparations obtained by existing methods and a lower hygroscopicity than extracts from sulfite liquors. The manufacture and use of drugs is illustrated as follows. After fermentation, sulphide bard from sulphite-cellulose liquors, containing calcium and magnesium salts in a large amount and having a pH of about 4-5, is treated with carbonate salts during heating in order to raise the pH of the bards to 9. The meaning of this operation is to reduce the hygroscopicity of the bards by removing filtering sediment of hygroscopic bard components and oxidation of all hemicellulose destruction strength products.
After boiling for 1 hour and filtering, the stillage filtrate is evaporated to 20–25 ° Be and processed, rolled up with manganic acid and potassium dichromate at the boil. 1 The treatment with these salts suppresses the purpose of producing further oxidation of the products of the hydrolysis of coal, which, according to the author, causes hygroscopicity and weak strength.
Уваренный до воздушного сухого состо ни препарат при растворении I имеет более высокие св зующие свойства, чем полученные по другим методам препараты из сульфитной I барды.i If during oxidation at 9 pH the oxidation processes go through i deeply enough, no additional oxidation is required. Of decisive importance here is the reduction of the reducing ability. In the case of contraction, additional oxidation of hydrochloric, acetic I, and other acids is performed up to a pH of 7. The product, boiled down to an air dry state, when dissolved, has higher binding properties than preparations obtained from other sulfite I bards by other methods.
An example. If sulphite bard. c, evaporated to specific unit; ca 1.3, given in the amount of 3% for I pure quartz sand, gives after
7,5 KZJCM-.Forming and drying at 180-5.5 KZJCM, then the same bard, treated with soda ash before, filtered from a large sediment and processed after evaporation to a specific weight with 1.3-potassium hydrochloric acid, 7.5 KZJCM -.
Under the same conditions, the first preparation, given in an amount of 6% but sand, gives 0.8 kg / s., And the suggested one is 14.5 kg / cm.
0,40%.The hygroscopicity of these products is also very different: while the first drug showed in 6 hours the specific swelling in water vapor of 0.75%, the proposed one shows only 0.40%.
Example 2 The bard carbonate obtained by treatment with carbonate and evaporated to a specific gravity of 1.3 is kneaded with betanaftol resin and, after evaporation, is ground into a homogeneous product and ground into a powder. The powder, given in the amount of 3-5% in quartz sand, gives, after molding and drying, a rod with a strength equal to 10-12 / cg / s.dg.
Similarly to barda, unfermented sulphite cellulose lye can be used according to the same method. In evaporated preparations from
