Изобретение относитс  к химической обработке металлов, в частности к технологии очистки изделий из сплавов на основе железа. Известен способ очистки стальных изделий от ржавчины и окалины в среде паров хлорида аммони  и органической добавки. Предлагаемый способ отличаетс  от известного тем, что процесс очистки ведут при давлении 50-0,6 мм рт iCT. и температуре 250- 380°С, а в качестве органической добавки ввод т камфору, причем очистку провод т в qpeде паров при следующем соотношении компонентов , вес. %: Хлорид аммони 10-99 Камфора синтетическа 90-1. Этот способ позвол ет повысить качество очистки. Пример. В печь, предварительно разогретую до 150°С, внос т один или несколько образцов стальных труб, покрытых слоем окалины в 0,3 мм толщиной. Одновременно с образцами в печь внос т хлорид аммони  в смеси с камфорой в виде порошка с размером частиц не более 1 мм в количестве 10-15 г на каждые 200 см емкости рабочей каме|ры печи.
