Description
Patent No. 18851 describes a method for making a plastic mass using bone meal, which consists in mixing asbestos fibers with burnt bone meal and mineral oils, after which they heat the mass for 12–16 hours and then punch it in a warm condition by blows of a manual or pneumatic hammer. The inventors have proposed a modification of the method described in main patent No. 18851, which consists in producing, after the manufacture of the asbestos base, the treatment of the latter on rollers in the following manner.
The proposed method consists in passing the mass obtained after the above treatment through hot rollers pre-lubricated with graphite or talc to obtain sheets of the desired thickness. The resulting sheets are then loaded into a chamber heater for a drip, continued until the sheet is given strength, at which a 90 ° bend does not fracture.
At the end of the drying process, in order to obtain a glossy surface and in order to avoid sticking of gaskets on the flanges, the sheets are subjected to grafting on a special machine, and then again passed through rollers to make it elastic. It is also possible to base the asbestos fiber using bone flour made by the method described in main patent No. 18851, first pass through a bath with a conveyor filled with a solution of mineral resin in a heated state, and then squeeze on rollers, dry, rub with graphite and re-pass through rollers.
The gasket manufactured according to the proposed method withstands (according to laboratory and factory tests) high pressure and temperature of both superheated and saturated steam and does not undergo aging during storage, irrespective of the duration.
