Description
The present invention relates to so-called dry and dry-filled elements with air depolarization and, in particular, to such types of them that have as a positive electrode coal surrounded by compressed carbonaceous sinter (for example, a mixture of coal and graphite or crushed coke) .
CuOj Cu(OH)2).The essence of the invention is that a very small amount (for example, about 1% of the total weight) of copper salt (for example CuSO.1: 5Н2О) or another copper compound is introduced into the composition of the positive carbon electrode and, in particular, into the agglomeration mass. (eg CuOj Cu (OH) 2).
Copper salt can be added to the agglomeration mass in a finely divided state or as a solution in the mass preparation and is thoroughly mixed with the other constituents. In the event that the positive electrode of an element is made up of a monolithic porous coal obtained by roasting, the honey salt is introduced by impregnating it with a solution of copper salt, respectively, of low concentration, followed by an eyelet.
Copper salt, introduced into the composition of the positive electrode, forms with the ammonia complex copper-ammonia compounds, which serve as a catalyst (oxygen carrier) in the process of air depolarization. This increase in copper salt increases the power (speed) of depolarization and, accordingly, increases the capacitance and discharge voltage of the elements in different discharge modes. Experience has shown that these small amounts of copper salt are sufficient to achieve good results, but an increase in its content above the known low limit already has a negative effect. Experience has also shown that with low contents of copper salt in the positive electrode in cells with a thickened electrolyte, diffusion of copper ions from the positive electrode into the surrounding electrolyte is completely safe. The safety of elements constructed according to the described principle is quite satisfactory and, according to the author, better than the safety of elements with pyrolusite depolarizer.
В заключение следует указать, что принцип применени соединений меди в качестве катализирующих добавок к депол ризаторам обычных элементов с перекисью марганца был известен до насто щего изобретени .In conclusion, it should be pointed out that the principle of using copper compounds as catalytic additives to depolarizers of conventional elements with manganese peroxide was known prior to the present invention.
