The invention relates to the field of vacuum coating. The arc evaporator is known, which contains an anode, a vaporized cathode, sKipaK, covering the non-working surface of the cathode, and the igniter. However, a double arc discharge is observed in an izvleznom evaporator and, as a result, an arc discharge between the anode and the screen leads to the evaporator failure. The purpose of this invention is to improve the reliability and stability of the evaporator. This goal is achieved by the fact that a capacitor is connected between the screen and the anode. The drawing shows a general view of the evaporator. The evaporator consists of the anode 1, the evaporating cathode 2, the screen 3 covering the non-working surface of the cathode, and the igniter 4. The capacitor 5 is turned on between the screen 3 and the anode 1, and the cathode 2 and screen 3 are mounted on the isolator 6. The igniter 4 is isolated from the evaporator housing by isolator 7 and connected to the anode 1 through limiting resistance 8. Resistance 8 reduces the current through the igniter 4 and, therefore, reduces the possibility of welding the latter to the cathode. The evaporator is connected to a direct current source. In the presence of a vacuum in the chamber, by briefly lighting the ignition1, its adaptations to the cathode ignite the vacuum arc burning in the vapors of the cathode material. Due to the presence of leakage currents, screen 3 may have more potential than the cathode.
2. However, when the cathode spot runs down to the side surface, the capacitor 5 is quickly charged and the screen 3 receives the potential: Cathode. The current between the cathode and the screen ceases and the cathode spot does not appear on the screen. The evaporator completely eliminated the transitions of the arc 1 to the screen, which increases the reliability and stability of the evaporator and eliminates contamination of the deposited films with the screen material. Claims of the invention An electric arc evaporator comprising an anode, a vaporized cathode, edges enclosing an inoperative surface of the cathode, and a ignition device, characterized in that, in order to improve the reliability and stability of the evaporator, a capacitor is inserted between the screen and the anode.
