Description
It is known that cellulose ethers, such as carboxymethyl cellulose, sulfates, cellulose ethanesulfonates and some of its other derivatives, are obtained by treating pelocellular cellulose with an alkylating or etherifying reagent, taken in solid form or as a concentrated solution.
In the known method, the process of obtaining cellulose ethers is carried out in two stages: after mixing in a mixer, the reaction mass is discharged into a special apparatus, where the product is partially or fully matured. At the same time, the reaction mixture is heated to a temperature of 40-100 ° C. The duration of the process is 4-5 hours.
Since a mixture of alkali cellulose and an alkylating or etherifying reagent is a heterogeneous system, one of the decisive conditions that determine the properties of the resulting cellulose effluent and the efficiency of using an alkylating or esterifying reagent is to achieve a high homogeneity of the distribution of the alkylating or esterifying reagent throughout the bulk of the mass, and the reagent must diffuse deep into the fiber.
Mixing alkaline cellulose with an alkylating or esterifying reagent, taken in solid form or in the form of a concentrated solution, in continuous mixers (for example, in rotating tubes, paddle mixers or vibromixers) does not allow for the uniform distribution of this reagent throughout the reaction mass and its deep irotation inside the fiber. As a result of this reaction, the surface layers of cellulose are subjected first of all, and cellulose ethers that are heterogeneous in their solubility and other properties are obtained. In particular, the products obtained are characterized by lower degrees of substitution and a higher content of non-reactive cellulose.
In order to intensify the process and improve the quality of cellulose ethers, it is proposed to mix the reaction mass under the action of centrifugal forces.
The proposed method, due to the high intensity of the process, allows combining two processes in the same apparatus for 5-300 seconds: the process of mixing alkali cellulose with an alkylating and / or esterifying reagent and
