This invention relates to trench excavation machines. A valuable excavator is known, which includes a tachometer, a transporting device and a working member mounted on a drive shaft with cutting elements. The aim of the invention is to extract the trenches and trenches with a width more than the width of the working body and with the trench offset relative to the longitudinal axis of the machine. This is achieved by the fact that the working body is mounted on the additional shafts parallel to it, the latter being connected to the drive shaft by means of levers that can be rotated about the drive shaft axis by means of interconnected power cylinders. FIG. 1 shows the described excavator, side view; in fig. 2 is a section along L-A in FIG. I. Chain excavator includes mt}, transporting device 2, frame 3 and working body with cutting elements 4. The working body is mounted on the drive 5 and an additional 6 shaft parallel to it. The latter is connected to the drive shaft by means of levers 7, which can be rotated relative to the axis of the drive shaft 5 by means of interconnected power cylinders 8. A frame .9 of the working member is mounted to the shaft 6. To one of the levers 7 is attached to the body of the power cylinder 10, the stem of which is connected to the frame. Under the action of the power cylinder, the frame moves across the width of the excavator along the shafts and is fixed by this cylinder 10 in any intermediate and final positions. The earthmoving tool is rotated around the axis of the drive shaft 5 by a lifting mechanism consisting of two pairs of power cylinders 8 and 11, interconnected by a swinging lever 12. The described chain excavator works as follows. With a fixed excavator, the working body is shifted to one side and buried in the ground. Then, the tool member is raised, shifted to the other side, and again recessed. In this position, the excavator advances by 2–3 m. After that, the tool is recessed, shifted to the initial position, deepened, and the excavator again advances by 2–3 m.
