FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves the polymerization of charge of the following composition: comonomers 30-70 vol.%, organochlorine compound taken from the group involving chloro- and dichloromethane or -ethane 0.5-25.0 vol.%, hydrocarbon solvent - the rest. Process is carried out in the presence of catalyst of the general formula RAlX•HZ where R - alkyl, X - haloid, n = 1-2, Z - oxygen or sulfur. Additionally, organochlorine compound taken from the indicated group is added to the catalyst (0.5-1.5 mole per 1 mole catalyst) at 0-(-)30 C in the process of copolymerization. Copolymerization is carried out at the range of temperatures from -30 to -80 C. Method is used in industry of synthetic rubber. EFFECT: increased yield of copolymer, simplified method. 2 tbl
