FIELD: decontamination of metals. SUBSTANCE: method involves treatment of metal or metal part surface with oxidizing agent flow containing molybdenum trioxide in concentration of 0.06-0.09 g/l at temperature of 973-1073 K but not over metal melting point. Such treatment of surface provides for easy removal of metal layer contaminated with radioactive agents from surface by mechanical process and part can be reused in accordance with its application. Formation of liquid radioactive agents is excluded in decontamination circuit.
